FAVOURITE DAY TOURS IN ICELAND

ONE DAY TOURS IN ICELAND

EXCURSIONS: There is a wide selection of one day tours in Iceland. So the problem is not finding the tour but choosing the right day tour for you. The first thing to take into consideration is the time of a year you are visiting Iceland. There are one day excursions which are wonderful all year round, but there are also others which are affected by the season or which do not even operate during some seasons. For example, it is only possible to see the Northern Lights from September to April. On the other hand, most of the excursions to the interior of Iceland are not available during this season, and on the contrary they are only available from June to the beginning of August. If you would like to see whales, the best season is from May to September, even though these tours run throughout the year. There are several natural ice caves on Iceland, the most beautiful ones are usually accessible from October to March, but there are some, which you can visit with regular excursions everyday year round. If you would like to visit a glacier, you can also do that all year round, weather permitting.

EXCURSIONS WITH TREKKING, SUPER JEEP or CLASSICAL TOURS
In Iceland you can choose from different types of guided tours. There are classical tours offered by tour companies via bus, but there are also tours available in super-jeeps or trekking tours. One of the most popular tours is The Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon. You can also choose from excursions packed full of adrenaline like rafting, kayaking, snowmobiling, cave tours, horseback riding, dog sledding or even snorkeling or diving. You can also find tours focused on Icelandic nature or ecotourism. No matter which tour(s) you chose we strongly recommend booking the tour ahead of time, as many of these tours in Iceland are likely to sell out.

BUS STOPS FOR DEPARTURES FOR EXCURSIONS IN REYKJAVIK

The city council in the capital Reykjavik requires that all visitors staying within the 'restricted zone' must meet their tours or guides in one of the 12 designated tourist bus stops. (The restricted zone is indicated below in the map in yellow.) All those with accommodation within this area must arrive to one of the bus stops at least 30 minutes before the departure time indicated on their tour voucher. All buses and minibuses are prohibited from waiting for passengers, so it is strongly recommended that one arrives at the designated bus stop on time and finds the corresponding bus. It is the responsibility of each visitor to ensure that they are present when their transport arrives. ID697.
