Travel itinerary for the 5- Day Southern Iceland  Winter Trip:

DAY 1: WELCOME TO ICELAND - REYKJAVÍK
Arrival at Keflavík international airport and transfer by bus FlyBus to accommodation in Reykjavík.

If the flight arrives early, in the afternoon you can get to know Reykjavík by booking an optional hop-on Hop-off bus tour with audio guide to see the capital (+39 EUR). Reykjavík offers much more than what you see at first sight. The capital of Iceland is different from most European cities, full of life but clean, safe and very intertwined with nature. If you opt for the optional excursion, you can get off and explore whenever you wish, getting to know all the interesting points of the capital by listening to the descriptions of the most important monuments in your own language. Departures from the Harpa building take place every 30 minutes from 09:30 to 16:30 (the concert hall in the center of Reykjavík). Reykjavík houses, low and colorful, add a special charm to the city. Some of those little houses, with their decorations of elves and flowers, remind us of the fairy tales of our childhood. Getting lost in this capital is almost impossible. Two points stand out above the rest: one of them is the Hallgrímskirkja church and the other, the Öskjuhlíð hill, with the spectacular Perlan Museum.

Accommodation in the capital in a 3 or 4 star hotel.

DAY 2: GOLDEN CIRCLE - AURORAS BOREALIS (NORTHERN LIGHTS)
After breakfast at the hotel, the first of our great excursions awaits us: GOLDEN CIRCLE. The Golden Circle of Iceland is the excursion that nobody should miss when it comes to Iceland as it includes some of the most fascinating natural sites of the whole island. In a tour of about 8 hours you can discover the National Park of Thingvellir (Þingvellir), the area where the division of the tectonic plates between Europe and North America is visible; the magnificent golden waterfall of Gullfoss; and the geothermal zone of Geysir and Strokkur. This tour is conducted with an English speaking guide.

At night, a very special moment awaits you. We know that seeing the northern lights is the great dream of many of the people who come to this wonderful island and that is why we offer you the amazing opportunity to join an excursion and set out on a hunt to admire this incredible natural phenomenon. Also, to make this experience in Iceland memorable, we offer audio guides in 10 languages so that you can learn and discover the science behind this magical event. The tour of northern lights with guide or audio guide in your language lasts about 3 hours, during which you can enjoy a mystifying experience away from the artificial lights of the capital that prevent you from admiring this phenomenon.

Accommodation in the capital

Note: 100% can not be guaranteed to see the Northern Lights. In case it is not possible, the possibility of doing the same excursion another day is offered free of charge and according to availability

DAYS 3: SOUTH COAST OF ICELAND - AURORA BOREALIS
With this exclusive 2-day excursion with an English-speaking guide, we leave the capital to explore the wonders of southern Iceland, where the most beautiful waterfalls on the island are located. Driving on Highway 1,  we will arrive at the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall, measuring 62 meters, where you can walk behind its impressive water curtain (during the winter the access can be limited but, even without it, the view of the falls is incredible ). As we continue further south, we will pass next to the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, which caused a great deal of chaos in air traffic during 2010. The next stop is the impressive Skógafoss waterfall. If visibility is good and weather permits, you will also see the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Afterwards, we will arrive at the beautiful village of Vík, where one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is located. The beach of Reynisfjara is located between the green hills of Vík and the great Mýrdalsjökull glacier, and offers stunning views of impressive rock formations called Reynisdrangar. After enjoying all these natural wonders, we will arrive at our charming rural hotel to spend the night. If the weather conditions are optimal, we will also enjoy an extraordinary spectacle, which the famous Aurora Borealis project over the sky.

Accommodation in a hotel at Southern coast of Iceland.

DAY 4: JÖKULSÁRLÓN LAGOON - ICE CAVE IN THE GLACIER VATNAJÖKULL
The fourth day we will dedicate to exploring and learning about the importance and role of ice on Iceland. We will start with a visit to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where you can admire the floating icebergs that dance atop the frigid water. Many possibly already know the lagoon from films such as James Bond (Dies Another Day), Batman Begins or The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Our second stop will be the crystalline ice cave. Upon reaching the cave, you will receive the necessary equipment to be able to enter inside. The glacial caves have to be treated with the maximum respect since they are very fragile and bear the weight of the glacier on top. Fascinating rays of green light penetrate through the tense ice and create an incredible natural spectacle. The atmosphere in the cave is simply unforgettable. This tour is also perfect for photography lovers, who will have time to take some of the most beautiful photos of their life. It is important to come well clothed since the temperature in the cave is even lower than outside. After the visit to the cave, we will head back to Reykjavík. On the way, we will make a stop in the National Park of Skaftafell and, if the weather is on our side, we will stop again to be able to observe the northern lights.

Accommodation in the capital

DAY 5: BLUE LAGOON AND RETURN HOME
The Blue Lagoon is the most visited monument in Iceland and one of the most fascinating places on the "Island of Ice and Fire". This impressive geothermal spa is located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, near the village of Grindavík. Its location between lava fields and beautiful landscapes and the vapors caused by the difference in temperature between the water and the environment, make the lagoon a truly extraordinary natural spectacle. During the last 5 years, the Blue Lagoon has been voted in the "Conde Nast Traveler" as the best healing spa of the whole world. Choose the time that best suits you, depending on your flight home, and end your trip to Iceland in the ideal manner- relaxing in soothing, healing waters in the incredible Blue Lagoon. The comfort entrance and the transfer to the Blue Lagoon are included in the price. And if you do not have time due to the schedule of your flight, we will adjust your schedule on the first or second day of your trip so that you may enjoy the Blue Lagoon in all its glory.
