VOLCANO ERUPTION IN ICELAND TOUR
Hike to the active volcano in Meradalir Iceland. Have you ever walked on freshly cooled lava? While there is currently no active eruption in the Meradalir area (Reykjanes Peninsula), this guided hiking tour still offers a truly unique experience. You’ll explore dramatic landscapes shaped by recent eruptions (2021, 2022, and 2023), walk among solidified lava fields, steam vents, and volcanic craters that still bear the marks of Earth’s raw power.
This afternoon/evening hike lasts around 6–7 hours (including transfers) and is led by an experienced English-speaking guide. The area remains a natural marvel — mysterious, untouched, and otherworldly. As the light shifts throughout the day, especially in the evening hours, the contrast between the black lava and the sky creates a surreal and unforgettable atmosphere.
Although there's no flowing lava at the moment, this hike is the next best thing to witnessing an eruption, offering insight into Iceland's active geology and the incredible power of nature.
