The departures for the snowmobile tour on Mýrdalsjökull glacier are made directly from the base camp under the glacier, where our guides will pick you up. From there, you will board a real glacier track and we will go to the starting point where the snowmobiles are waiting for you. We will lend you all the necessary equipment so that you are ready for this exciting tour on ice. An English speaking certified guide will explain you how to drive the snowmobile and how you should behave on the glacier. Driving a snowmobile is easy, no experience necessary, just a valid driving license. Come to the top of Mýrdalsjökull, the glacier that covers one of Iceland’s largest volcano, Katla, and enjoy the snowmobile tour.

Scheduled departures: Several departures per day (according to the reservation table). Please show up 30 minutes before departure at the meeting point at the base of Mýrdalsjökull glacier at Ytri-Sólheimar 1.
What should I bring? No matter what time of year you decide to travel to Iceland, it is always important to bring a proper waterproof jacket, warm clothes (waterproof pants like Gore-tex), good waterproof shoes, gloves, light hat, sunglasses and camera.

To get to the base camp under the Mýrdalsjökull glacier you will need a rental car. The base camp is located in Ytri-Sólheimar 1- GPS N63 29,700 W19 19,638.
Ytri-Sólheimar 1 is located in Mýrdalur about 25 km from the town of Vík and about 11 km from the town of Skógar.
The distance from Reykjavík is about 160 km, therefore, in optimal conditions (driving at maximum speed without stopping) it will take about 2 hours by car from the capital.
Leaving Highway 1, drive 1.2 km. along highway 222 to the base camp of Ytri-Sólheimar 1.
To operate the snowmobiles, a full valid driver’s license is required. All drivers must be at least 17 years old. Single riders and groups with odd numbers are required to book a single ride extra.
