MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE MÝVATN NATURE BATHS
The water in the lagoon comes directly from the National Power Company at Bjarnarflag in North Iceland. When it reaches the large basin next to the lagoon, the water temperature is about 130 °C, creating an impressive artificial hot spring. Together, the lagoon and basin hold around 3.5 million liters of water heated to between 36 and 40 °C.
Geothermal water in Iceland often contains sulfur, especially in the Mývatn area, which can benefit people with asthma, respiratory conditions, and skin problems.
It’s advised to avoid wearing brass or silver jewelry in the water, as they may tarnish or get damaged. You can store your belongings in lockers or leave valuables in a safe at reception. All guests are required to shower thoroughly before entering the lagoon.
